Rate and Write a Review In 1963, Bud Friedman made history by opening a little comedy joint in New York City. Some of the best comedians got their start at the Improv, including favorites like Robin Williams, Jay Leno, Billy Crystal and Lily Tomlin. Now expanded to include clubs across America, the Improv has homes in Hollywood, Irvine, Baltimore, Tempe, Addison, Tampa, D.C., Miami and Cleveland. Featuring the nation's hottest stand up acts, the Improv has been called America's original comedy showcase and restaurant. Yes, you heard that right. Not only does the Improv present the best comics in the business, but the venue also offers an extensive and quite tasty menu. Choose from a lovely selection of appetizers, including a nine-layer dip, fried mozzarella, nachos, quesadillas and chicken wings. Main courses include fresh fish catch-of- the-day, grilled chicken breast, homemade pizzas, char grilled steak, hamburgers, pastas or shrimp. The Cleveland club also offers two for one Tuesday night dinners, a Saturday night $5 admission for students, and two nonsmoking shows per week. Originally geared toward encouraging actors and aspiring comedians to practice their craft before auditions, the Improv comedy club is now the premier destination for live comedy. -- Allison Bloom
