Jimmy O'Neill managed a neighboring restaurant for 17 years and when this restaurant space became available, he took over. It retains the former occupant's wine cellar look, but feels more like a pub. The affable O'Neill is usually on hand to make you feel at home. There's O'Neill's regular menu of sandwiches, including a great steak sandwich; salads, including a terrific portabello mushroom salad with an irresistible house balsamic dressing; and appetizers, including some of the best chicken wings around. And there are also about a dozen specials every day, some rotating, others once-in- a-lifetime creations. They always feature chicken, fish, steak, seafood, vegetarian choices and sometimes game. On one visit, specials included pecan-crusted chicken breast with a honey glaze, mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley; pasta topped with sauted portabello and crimini mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and goat cheese, accented with baby carrots and asparagus; duck confit with wild rice and vegetable medley; grilled fresh striped bass with basil-almond butter and wild rice; and fresh crabcakes with ginger, shallots, lime zest and white wine sauce. Soups have included turkey borscht and crimson lentil-chick pea. The most popular dessert is the beet cake, a rich chocolate take on the trick that home cooks have long known.

Great place at a reasonable price. Dish we ordered is far better than some $200 per couple restaurant we ate at a few mos. ago. The chocolate cake is one of the best things I've ever had in my life!!

A great treat to eat here for the first time last night. Above the ordinary tavern food belongs in some trendy sheesy hip place. But it tastes better with the friendly atmosphere and service. Waiter Steve was quick to recommend and helpful. Mussels in garlic ceam sauce were the star of the meal, until the beet cake arrived. Wow. In an area with lots of restaurants, you will not go wong here.

A wonderful place to eat - personable service, absolutely delightful food, and a comfortable atmosphere. The potato crusted grouper is amazing.
