From Chicago to Charlotte, Hartford to Hong Kong, those who appreciate the finer things in life -- cigars, spirits and thick, juicy steaks -- find all their desires satiated at Morton's. The international steakhouse's Cleveland establishment, part of the Avenue at Tower City Center downtown, has been a favorite since 1990 among local power brokers and celebrities for its gorgeous dining room, its upscale bar and its pricey but exquisite entrees. Some of the many steaks offered here include the Filet Oscar (served with asparagus, jumbo lump crabmeat and sauce bearnaise), the steak au poivre (in a five-peppercorn cognac cream sauce) and the New York strip steak. Seafood lovers can dive into the farmed raised salmon or the whole baked Maine lobster. Ah, then there's the raison d'etre: Godiva chocolate cake, which is filled with hot fudge and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The atmosphere is comfortable and classic, featuring dimly lit booths, photographs and artwork of the city along the walls and a stellar collection of bats and balls autographed by notable sports figures.

Not what it's cracked up to be

Don't know how they stay in business; it's always dark & empty. The food is just OK for who they're supposed to be. Servers are good if you're a celeb or you know someone. They make it sound much better than it will end up being. I suppose they're on a natural high?

.. It's expensive....
By Ttee 5 on 05/16/2008
It's expensive.... but it's good. The waiters were good, but the food was better .. far surpasses John Q's, which reminds most patrons of a Burger King with an attitude. That said .. Pier W trumps them all.
