new owners doing great job
By surfingirl71 on 09/06/2002
I notice here that everyone had a bad experience at Josephs Hatchcover.. It has new ownership as of 1/26/02 and is a delightful experience and there are many new changes. People who wrote these bad reviews havnt been there since the new owners took over. They are doing a great job bringing the place back to excellent standards. Josephs Hatchcover is no longer in business. This is just called the Hatchcover and its getting a bad review because of the old place that it was. It is an excellent place to eat and is changing for the better everytime we go. people need to give new ownership a try and understand that it is no longer a fine dining restaurant. It is a casual dining steak and seafood restaurant. There are many locals who are very happy with the new ownership and I hope others give them the benefit of the doubt. It isnt easy making it as a mom and pop anymore and even more so when someoene is trying to get rid of bad experiences that people had in the past when it was a different restaurant. They have done alot of changes from new carpet , new paint , new menu and better prices. they have a menu sight on www.hatchcover.biz... Check it out and see for your self. Give them a chance it isnt easy to change things in this town but they are doing a very good job and really want to make the hatchcover a place that everyone enjoys and can afford.

Bad Experience
By skeyes1965 on 06/01/2002
My husband and I had visited family during 12/2001 and went to Joseph's Hatchcover, as it had been recommended as one of Colorado Springs top ten fine dining establishments. It was an awful experience and we would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I hope it is true that it is under new ownership, (as told by the other review) But we also wonder if this is so? Why did I not receive a response to the letter I wrote them in January, regarding the bad experience we had? Perhaps apologizing for what had happened, that they had recently changed ownership and remedied these shortcomings with waitstaff and invited us back? Or at least acknowledged the letter at all. Everyone we told about our experience was appalled and could hardly believe it. I would not have believed it myself had I not experienced it first hand. I hope the management has taken steps to remedy this. Otherwise I don't know how they can stay in busines.....

under new ownership
By wrt068 on 03/05/2002
The Hatch Cover is under new ownership as of l/l/02 and we had the pleasure of meeting Rob and Laura Hirt. We had quit going when it was Josephs Hatch Cover but Rob & Laura have it back like it used to be and we will keep going back.

Despite "good" service the chef managed to destroy my steak. I rank this place right up there with the "Ponderosa" or "Bonanza." Case closed.
