Voted Columbias best pizza in 1998, Village Idiot Pizza & Pub serves up all kinds of New York-style pizza, including specialty pies like the Rajun Cajun and the pineapple- and ham-covered Maui-Waui Special. If pizza doesnt appeal to you, the Village Idiot also serves pasta, salads, wings and more -- not to mention beer and alcohol at its popular bar. Located right next to the University of South Carolina campus in the towns Five Points section, this place is typically host to a pizza- eating, beer-guzzling college crowd. As you might expect, the atmosphere is laid-back and very casual. There are a few video games and, on rare occasions, some live music. -- Carolyn Turgeon

Village Idiot
The pizza is pretty good but I suspect that most people go in there for the bar atmosphere, and it is not a good one. Probably 75% of those in the bar are under age, and it shows. Gets way to crowded during peak hours. Although I have to say that trivia on Wednesdays is always a good time.
Best Pizza in South Carolina
Being frm the Nawth, this is best pizza my family has found in SC! It's not a family restaurant, but you can bring kids in "for an early supper" -- before the college "atmosphere" kicks into high gear. A true thin crust pizza experience not to be missed.

Best Restaurant/Bar in town
Pizza that will blow your mind, calzones that will amaze you and a friendly atmosphere that will continually bring you back for more. Definitely one of my favorite hang-outs in Columbia.
