What more could a trendy ask for? Not only does Northstar have a generous patio and huge windows that offer the perfect High Street voyeuristic spot, but about 70 percent of the food is made with organic ingredients, with an emphasis on healthy preparation. It is, however, far from yogurt-and-tofu fare: Breakfast and brunch offerings include a mushroom frittata with shitakes, portobellos, onions and gruyere cheese; and "Cloud 9" pancakes made with ricotta and Ohio maple syrup. There's even an egg-and-cheese biscuit sandwich -- bacon and sausage are optional. For lunch or dinner, choose from bowls of organic white or brown basmati rice topped with spicy chicken, or a Buddha combo (that would be tofu and peanut sauce). Also on the menu: sandwiches such as hearty barbecued meatloaf, flatbreads prepared with organic flour crust, and salads with made-from-scratch dressings. Everything is served up in a bright and airy postmodern industrial atmosphere, replete with sofas and a full rack of magazines, as well as Internet access.

Could Make a Vegetarian out of the Most Hardcore Meat-Eater
By ViveeB on 08/02/2008
What everyone else said is absolutely true. I am pretty close to being a hardcore meat eater, but if I could eat this type of food every day I could become a vegan. My favorite is the Veggie burger -- you beefeaters don't scoff until you try it -- it is to die for. The first time I went there my vegetarian friend tried to send her veggie burger back because she was sure they had accidentally given her a beefburger -- but no, it really was a veggie burger. It's that tasty and hardy. And if you've behaved yourself by eating healthy for your main course, you can indulge yourself for one of their also to die for baked goods.

Favorite place right now
By carywc on 02/17/2008
If you are stuck trying to find a place that will please everyone, go to Northstar!! I have never brought someone there that could possibly complain. I respect them so much for having consistently delicious food, using organic, fair trade, all natural. I would like if they discontinued soda and splenda. But that is a minor issue. It is one of my favorite places ever, I wish I would have found it sooner. I recommend the coffee, blueberry smoothie, big burrito, veggie pizza (caution: comes with big chunks of jalepeno so be careful) Also, I am a vegetarian and they are flexible with menu items and very veg-friendly and vegan. it is nice to have a place that i can go with my meat eating friends that caters to both parties.

JUST GO - SEE FOR YOURSELF
By hellfield04 on 02/14/2007
I can't say enough about this place: the food, the venue, the staff and the owners ... the wait in line and wait for a table at Sunday morning brunch time can be intimidating, but always worth it.
