The SceneHoused in an old church that was converted in the early '70s, the restaurant's atmosphere is dark and dramatic, almost austere, with stained-glass windows and wooden beams in the main dining room. Call ahead for one of the coveted booths that feel private and enclosed. Or dine in the more inviting cocktail lounge, complete with big stone hearth blazing in the fall and winter months. The FoodChef de cuisine Richard Blondin specializes in wild game preparations. Signature entrees include a rack of baby New Zealand lamb roasted in a savory crust, homemade pâté and ostrich tenderloin wrapped in double-smoked bacon. From the attentive service to the pristinely prepared dishes, this restaurant is consistently lauded locally and regionally. Chef Blondin trained in the kitchen of Pierre Orsi in Lyons and is a perfectionist, making every plate a showpiece.

An experience to remember
By havinaball210 on 04/14/2005
My fiance proposed to me in this restaurant. He decided on it because he knows that I speak french and I am obsessed with french culture. Our waitor was from France and he gave us some travelling tips and didn't make fun of my (thick) American accent. At the end of the evening, they gave us a gift certificate to come back. It was only $10., but every little bit helps. The food was great, even if we forgot what we ordered and didn't know what we were eating. The price was high, but for our experience, it was worth it. I wouldn't go there except on special occasions because of the price, but I would recommend it to anybody who wants to make a night memorable!

Hype

The Refectory is good but I have never experienced anything there that would come close to the rave reviews it consistently gets. The food is very good but it's not the best restaurant in Columbus.

Wonderful Evening

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Refectory last year and found it to be a wonderful experience. You are at the top of our list. The food was exquisite and the environment comfortable and enjoyable. You will be seeing more of us.
