Cafe Aeby   

Went to the cafe last week and they were ontop of it like always. I had the menu de jour, which started with a tomato salad then went to a pork dish then dessert for 19.00 bucks. Everything made fresh and to that moment. I'll go back

Recently went there early September 2006 after receiving a card in the mail advertising their existence. I entered and asked for the take out menu and was informed it was outside. Went outside, came back in and ordered a sandwich to go. Turkey and bacon. Was informed that they had some already prepared in the cooler. I asked when were they made and was told that morning. I said I would prefer to have a "fresh" one made. That was met with a frown by the girl behind the counter. She left and came back 2-3 minutes later to tell me that they did not have any bacon. This is one of the sandwiches that they offer their clientele for lunch who choose to sit down. I decided to get one out of the cooler. Upon returning home, 5-6 minute drive, I took the sandwich out, took a bite and discovered that one of the condiments (thinly sliced radishes) were still FROZEN. To me this is NOT fresh. The fresh bread that is made daily was not fresh after being in the cooler. It was bordering on HARD. I might add that I have dined many times at Restaurant Aeby (formerly Lavenders) and was always most impressed with the quality of food and service. Actually I would always recommend Lavenders to out of towners who actually wanted a gourmet restaurant to go to.
