Rate and Write a Review The Torch opened in 1957 as The Charcoal House. When Harry Porter took over a few months later, he changed the name and it's stuck ever since. Although Porter has passed the flame to Telly Gialouris, you'll still get a steak cooked on the open pit in the main dining room and it will be free of preservatives and tenderizers. The Torch specializes in leisurely dining, but those who need to eat and go need only tell their server to get faster service. The menu features steak and seafood with a Greek accent. Wednesday is Greek Night at the Torch, featuring dolmades, saganaki, pastitso, moussaka, souvlaki and, of course, baklava. During the rest of the week, the wide- ranging menu includes prime rib, grilled lamp chops, fish, shrimp and quail, a selection of seafood, and -- from the grill --rib eye, filet mignon, New York strip steak and more. Children 12 and younger can choose from six items, all of which come with a salad and fries.
