Think you've seen it all when it comes to dance clubs? Think again. With five levels set within 35,000 square feet and a capacity of just under 1,500, Purgatory has raised the bar for the Dallas clubbing scene. Ten bars, a separate lounge area for the ladies and 14 plasma screen TVs are spread throughout this cauldron bubbling with nefarious night owls. The bottom level, appropriately tabbed "Hell," sports a dance floor with hard hops and a devilish vibe. Next up is "Purgatory," for all those struggling with their religion. Ascend another level and you've reached a two-tiered empyrean beginning with "Heaven" where the beats and the atmosphere start to become a little more angelic. By the time you reach "Upper Heaven," you should've attained a euphoric state of bliss that only a divine, uh, couple of rum and cokes can provide. If climbing from level to level works up your appetite, grab a bite at "Pandora," an upscale sushi hibachi restaurant.

By ktucks89 on 06/23/2007
So the first time I went I almost got kicked out because I was SITTING on the ground smoking. The second time I got kicked out because I "stumbled" into someone which made them come to the conclusion that i was drunk, WHEN I DIDNT EVEN TOUCH A DRINK THAT NIGHT. they are psychos

BEWARE OF THUG BOUNCERS
By cherishedfpc on 05/11/2007
If you go, be sure to AVOID asking the bouncers anything!! My brother-n-law did that and was literally beat up and kicked out of the club! My sister too. He was just asking to speak to the manager because the restrooms were a mess, women's personal products everywhere, etc. and he was grabbed, punched in the elevator and another bouncer grabbed my 105 lb sister, treating them like criminals. She didn't even know what was going on. he now has scars on his face from this out-of-nowhere attack. They talk about keeping the hoodlums out or whatever, their own bouncers are the THUGS & HOODLUMS! They (along with parents and others) have tried numerous times to talk with the manager and noone can get a hold of him. Very poor management. Charges are being filed. Just don't even look at the bouncers if you go to this overpriced club that probably won't be lasting too much longer.

NICE CLUB, GOOD LOCATION
By griseldasr03 on 01/02/2007
After reading all of the reviews, it seems like everyone complains about the pricing for Purgatory. Even though the cover charge and drinks are expensive, you have to realize what club you are DECIDING to go to, which includes its location and its atmosphere. Whenever Purgatory opened my view was that I had to really dress up for this "nice" club downtown. Each floor has it's own "type of people". HELL, the first floor when you enter the club is for people that like Hip-Hop, Rap and Cumbia(Mexican) rhythms. PURGATORY, the mid-floor includes latin flavors: Merengue, Salsa, Bachata, Lounge Area, etc. Last but not least, HEAVEN, is more laid-back people drinking and enjoying the variety of music with a perfect view through clear windows of Downtown Dallas. The music scene would be a mixture from Beyonce, Kumbia Kings, to rap, hip-hop, even Justin Timberlake! PURGATORY is a night club that will definately make your night, if you leave all the stereotypes aside. *** Recommend to sign up for FREE VIP passes @ www.aprhino.net
