When the Barley House, a Knox-Henderson stalwart, packed up and headed north to Yale Boulevard, it left a void in the area's casual, neighborhood pub scene. Stepping up to the plate in an effort to draw a similar crowd is Vickery Park. Just a stone's throw farther east, this rickety, beer-first offering has all the ingredients to win over the hearts and minds of the displaced Barley-ites. A winding, horseshoe bar provides plenty of space to belly up and order one of the bar's unique imports. Patrons also take to the small patio as the Henderson traffic whizzes by only a few yards away. A small menu offers salads, sandwiches and a handful of other items. If you're serious about saving Henderson from the seemingly unstoppable invasion of upscale restaurants, clubs and boutiques, Vickery Park is the place where you should consider dropping some hard-earned dough.
