The temperature just keeps on rising downtown as hot new bars and clubs are returning from their northern migration and setting up shop in the heart of the urban Dallas scene. This time it's The Walrus Restaurant & Bar and entrepreneur John Reardon that are betting big on the business district's after hours resurrection. Located next to the World Aquarium just east of the West End, this place oozes chic and expects the same from its clientele. Fashionable singles and wannabe jet sets perambulate more than 5,000 square feet while others perform their ''mating sway'' on the dance floor to the beats of local DJs and lounge tracks. But besides heading to the Walrus to get their groove on, locals also gather for lunch and dinner as well, where gussied-up bar food like the famous chicken burger, quesadillas, burgers and appetizers are served up from 11AM to 11PM. Much of the staff from the Obar has made the transition downtown to The Walrus, so expect the servers to be equally (if not more) attractive as the patrons while the service should be top-notch.

Ripped Off - Do Not Open A Tab
By sirenindallas on 09/19/2007
DO NOT OPEN A TAB. YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF. I ordered 4 drinks (2 wells at $4 each and 2 Absolut Mandarin with Cranberry at $6 each), totaling $20. They originally tried to charge me $44 but I saw the list of drinks on the screen and disputed it. The bartender falsely accused my friend of ordering drinks on my tab. I told them that neither of us had ordered additional drinks on my tab. The one drink my friend ordered was from another bartender and she paid cash for it. They then knocked down my charge to $32 which was still in correct. I finally signed the receipt for $32 and $0 tip, wrote on the bottom that I was mischarged and left. I have tried contacting them by phone and email several times within the last 4 days since the incident. No one will answer the phone nor respond to my emails. Today, I found they charged my debit card for $47. It seems there are some thieving bartenders there. Up until that point, my friend and I had a great time. The DJ was good once the place grew busy and we had space to dance in the side bar.

This is a good place for guys
By may050384 on 05/08/2007
Women dont go here, the drinks are over priced, the guys aren't cute and the bartenders dont really know what they are doing... Since when does a Hurricane come with bourbon??-- grosse! There are alot of pretty girls but very few good looking guys. My suggestion is to go elsewhere.

What a great place to be. The food, the friendly staff, the atmosphere, its all great. I have been going there since it opened and it keeps getting better and better every week. Fridays are the best day to go, the people there are absolutly beautiful, and the bartenders there are among the hottest in dallas.....if your looking for a fun place to go with a great atmosphere...The Walrus is the place to be!!!!

Our entire evening was wonderful. The food, the service and the atmosphere was so enjoyable. We all had a great time. The homemade chips and salsa were to die for as well as the burgers and fries. We will definitely be back and tell our friends to visit The Walrus. You all should be PROUD....
