Rate and Write a Review The Aardvark is a 30-something-year-old veteran of the Fort Worth music scene near TCU. Once known as the Hop, the club has launched musical careers, entertained generations of bored students and been featured in a movie. The comfortable, old club features national touring bands and quality local talent in its spacious one room, which contains a bar and a stage at opposite ends. You can hear musical styles ranging from folk to alternative rock to genres that have yet to be defined. This flexibility is an example of the Aardvark's friendly, party atmosphere, but there is more to its success than the relaxed attitude. The sound system is built for music, and the place has a history of taking pre-emptive chances on new local talent. Renovations have made it roomier, although it could already accommodate a small army. The Aardvark attracts students by offering cheap cover charges, casual dress and quality live music, but it's a great venue for anyone who wants to drop the pretenses, kick back and join the party. -- Gary Taylor
