Located as it is within the walls of an antique shop catering heavily to the urban chic, you could rightfully expect more than a small degree of hip sensibility from Cafe Danielle. You would be right. Perhaps most indicative of the sort of high-concept dining directions this place is head is the Two Martini Lunch special, an edible specimen of avant-garde modernism consisting of two large martini glasses filled with chicken, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Similarly encouraging to thrill-seeking diner are the resident sandwiches, which benefit from creative little touches -- for starters, each one comes served with not only a pickle but also half of a boiled egg. Danielle's soups probably measure lowest of all on the wacky scale, but this doesn't stop regulars from taking home extra servings for potential midnight snacks. -- Barrett Brown
