Central Market is aptly named, and the Dallas store, at the busy intersection of Lovers Lane and Greenville Avenue, is no exception. This is "food central" for the serious sustenance afficionado and a brave new world waiting to be explored by the common, wide-eyed, grocery shopper. There are many aisles to peruse at this 75,000-square-foot market.Buy exotic, even rare, ingredients, aided by advice from the food specialists (dressed in green and white stripes) or take home a complete meal prepared by a chef. Tantalizing aromas and colorful displays tease the senses as you discover a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs and produce, much of it locally grown. Dozens of species of fish and seafood stare up at you with bright eyes from frosty beds. It would take years to sample the 2,500 types of fine domestic and imported wines, and you could almost pop the top on a different brand of beer each day for a year (if they'd let you). In addition, more than 600 varieties of cheese are availabe. An abundance of organic produce will bring a rosy glow of joy to the cheeks of the health-conscious shopper, and the bakery makes bread from scratch, just like Mama used to. In fact, the in-house cooking school might even teach you to cook even better than Mama.
