What do you get when you cross Christianity with Deep Ellum? You get The Door. Just off the beaten path, away from the tattoo parlors and dance clubs, you'll find The Door located on a quieter section of Elm Street. Opened in 1998, The Door was the first to blaze a Christian trail through Deep Ellum. Christian rock followed, along with its fans and some good, wholesome partying. While you can't find alcohol inside and you may get some complaints if you light up a cigarette, you will find some of the best Christian rock acts the D-FW area has to offer. Priding itself on not being preachy, The Door and its patrons do not look down their noses at non-Christians and even encourage them with open arms. The Door is all-ages friendly and, as owner Russell Hobbs says, "a middle ground between church life and club life." - Lisa Olson

From the Man, the Myth, The Legend Page: "Although involved in writing a script for a motion picture and developing a television talk show, Hobbs can still be found relating to hobos and misfits on the streets of Deep Ellum." I guess that sort of "compassion" didn't extend to the homeless woman that Hobbs told to go away because he "didn't want her picking" through the 3 torn, overflowing trash bags sitting outside his venue. But hey, nobody was looking right? That's legendary.

I was very Disappointed in The Door at the Moneen, Senses Fail, Beautiful Mistake, brand New show. If you didn't have a ticket ahead of time you completely missed Moneen plus they scheduled only 15 minutes for the headliner Brand New to play. Very poor quality club.

As the mother of three music loving teens, it's great to find a place where we all can enjoy live music. The group PIERCED was really great! I hope to see these young men again.
