There is one obvious drawback to dining outdoors in Texas: the sweltering heat. At Jake's Uptown, where good old-fashioned burgers are the order of the day, you don't have to worry about it. See, the forward-thinking management there decided that umbrella-covered patio tables weren't enough for the massive patio at Jake's, so they added misters that provide some soothing relief from the heat as you enjoy a burger and a beer. And the prices are cheap, not just for Uptown, but just downright inexpensive. Local bands also take to the patio stage on Thursdays and Saturdays to crank up the mood a little bit while those eating within the smallish interior catch up on the latest sports action. So if you're looking to experience some Uptown nightlife without parting with too much of your hard-earned cash, this is a good bet.

Jake's on Abbrams/Skillman

We tried Uptown location only once. Never again. Waitress was surly and never returned. We have always enjoyed the Skillman location. I have never had a bad order. Good food and friendly service. Nice patrons too. This will always be the best location for us.

Jake's on Beltline

Burgers are very good...reasonable prices. The patio overlooks a golf course and is probably the best in the Addison/North Dallas area. Inside bars are cool with lots of flat screens. Worth a trip.

I went to Jakes because it was supposed to be good. Disappointed. Where does AOL come up with the list? Have they ever been to Dallas? The best burger is Goff's. Fresh beef ground daily, and they are charcoal broiled--true Texas. I like the #10 with chili, cheese, onions, hickory sauce and Thousand Island Dressing. Chips is also a good burger place.
