Rate and Write a Review Somehow, goat meat sounds more attractive in Spanish, but doesn't everything? At Nuevo Leon, the cabrito al horno, guajillo-marinated young goat in a banana-leaf wrap, is delicious no matter which language you use to say, "yummy," but get ready for a protein overload, because it's served with a side dish of carnitas (pork) or quail in mole sauce. The rich mole sauce is also put to good use in beef and chicken dishes. Other popular items are the chile relleno and mole verde (chicken and squash in poblano pepper sauce). If you've never experienced Mexican food like this, you've probably been eating at one of the more typical Tex-Mex establishments, which this is not. The owners are trying to reproduce the food they experienced in Mexico, and if popularity is any indication, they have succeeded. Prices are reasonable, too. The menu is based on the native cuisine of two regions in Mexico: the south central area, known for spicy sauces (guisos) and the northeastern part, which is home to steaks and tacos. The architecture fits the authenticity, with its adobe in traditional warm colors, high ceilings, terra cotta-covered awnings and patio. Enjoy live music on weekends. -- Gary Taylor
