Designed for comfort with a spacious interior, soft music and relaxing, understated decor, May Dragon offers a taste of hypnotic Eastern ambience along with a menu full of fresh Chinese cuisine that honors the venerable tradition of China's May Dragon Festival. The combination of subdued red and gold colors and flowery murals provide an elegant backdrop to the stark white tablecloths anchored by artistically presented plates of Peking Duck, Crispy Whole Red Snapper, Roll-Your-Own Lettuce Rolls, Hong Kong Steak and other house specialties that draw from the traditional cuisine of the Mandarin, Hunan, Canton, Szechuan and other regions in China, as well as selections from Indonesia, Malaysia and Polynesia. There are private dining rooms and a 120-person capacity banquet room. Peaceful, romantic and elegantly appointed, May Dragon's blend of the fashionable, the traditional and the casual attracts a variety of singles, couples and business diners. May Dragon is also the only four-star Chinese restaurant in Dallas, and has won several dining awards. Reservations are recommended. -- Gary Taylor

Good Service, Doesn't honor saversguide coupons!
By kieran2230 on 01/26/2009
Don't plan on using saversguide to save a little money. Obviously they can't read the rules straight from the website: "To save at participating merchants, simply present your printed SaversGuide® coupon or membership card before the merchant totals your bill. Discounts exclude tax, tip, alcohol and sale items, where applicable." They said I needed a card which isn't true.

Unique Experience
By wulfemoror on 09/10/2006
I've met the owner, Joe Chow, on several occasions. He's the mayor of Arlington, and is the sole person holding the scattered Chinese population together. I've had the honor to talk to him on several occaisions, and listen to one of his speeches during the 2005 Taiji Legacy, an annual Martial Arts tournament in the area. I find it amazing that he can do all this... and manage the only four-star restaruant in China. If you're lucky, it'll be the Chinese New Year - during that time, which lasts for a few weeks, there are lion dances from Sifu Jimmy Wong's kung fu school, and also a Chinese dancer who comes in every year from San Francisco. If you're learning Chinese, she'll be happy to help you, as well as just stop by and chat or teach you a little dancing trick with your chopsticks. The food surpasses any other Chinese food in the area, and indeed I have tasted nothing else to best it. My personal favorite is General Tsao's chicken, but as my family and friends always eat Chinese style - rather like a mini buffet - I have sampled the entire menu over time. The service is friendly, and I have been friends with several of the waiters. They're a fun group, and I feel fortunate to know them.

good service low quality food

I have never sent out a review on a resturant before, but before anyone else spends the money I did on a dinner of such poor quailty I want to stop them. This was a special event, my daughter n law's Birthday. I called ahead to make sure the resturant was "nice" I didnt want a "drop in" atmosphere. We asked the server for recommendations and he advised not to order the fried rice. "not so fresh he said" Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. The place needs a good cleaning. The food was over cooked, the gravy on the duck was scorched tasting and they say they hire the best chefs from China. We ordered drinks and wanted a high quailty tasty meal and make it a event, Not fast food tasting, warmed over and thats what the appertizers were. They presented all these large platers with the food on it but it looked last, the quanity for the price wouldnt be my complaint if we could have tasted the quality. When I called to see if we needed reservations for a Sunday evening, The gentleman said nah ! But wanted to know what time I might be there. I stated around 5 pm, when I got there he told me we were late. I should have just gone to a chain resturant. I am so dissappointed. How can a chinese resturant mess up sesame chicken, but it was stringy and dry. Bringing hot towels to the table and having white linen table clothes on the table doesnt make you a classy resturant. Especially when you havent dusted since you opened. If you do go to the May Dragon, order the white rice, its a bit gummy, but fresh..
