Join the after-work gang for ice-cold "Jager," or get going with a night on the town at this busy day and night spot full of singles. Weekday happy hours bring out hot wings (they won't sneak up and bite you) to help ease the pain of opting to "drink" your dinner instead of eating it. Top choices for the regulars are shrimp baskets with jalapenos and hushpuppies, and lobster ravioli. Frozen margaritas bask in the spotlight for Thursday ladies night. The entertainment here comes from several televisions including a 10-foot TV screen on the lower level. Bartender comedy includes the barkeep hoisting ice over his back in an attempt to hit the sink -- a laughable scene, to be sure. So get in on the action or kick back and unwind on the outdoor patio while enjoying subtle background music. -- Mary Barber

Best sports bar in Uptown!

The editorial review above is waaaaay old. The food has undergone an overhaul over the past few months. The burgers are HUGE and juicy and cooked to perfection. Salads are big and filling, the wings are just the right combo of sweet, spicy and tart. The boneless wings are also great, sliced chicken fingers tossed in their wing sauce, served with fries. I've had almost everything on the menu, and haven't been disappointed! Great selection of beers on tap and in bottles, and they always seem to have the latest "in" vodka/tequila/liquor as well. TVs everywhere, including a huge HD projection TV. The crowd/atmosphere is fun, and engaging. My female friends love to come here as well, it's not a "guy only" kind of sports bar. The waitresses/bartenders are also great, and get to know you really fast. It doesn't take long to become a regular to them. It's nice being greated by name when you come in!

On a Sunday afternoon stopped in there for dinner and drinks. The food was terrible. We expressed this to the bartender (as our waiter didn't return after 45 minutes) and they didn't respond at all. We only saw our waiter one time and we had to keep going up to the bar to order our own drinks. Our sandwich didn't come with what the menu said it would come with, and even so, it was a disgusting rendition of a club sandwich. We will never go there again and as a husband and wife in the DFW Media, we will never recommend the "MAT" to anyone.
