Not part of Dallas major entertainment hubs, Mercado stands alone as a seasoned veteran of Tex- Mex cuisine. Decorated in the typical bright colors associated with Mexican fiestas, this family-friendly and spacious restaurant is a delight for large gatherings. The service and food are above average. A favorite item not often found on Tex-Mex menus is the cabrito- baby goat cooked in a traditional Mexican barbecue oven. The meat is succulent and comes off the bone without effort. This dish feeds four and is served with ranchero beans, rice, salsa and corn tortillas. Mercado puts its own spin on green enchiladas; these are a must-try for the enchilada lover. Margaritas can make or break a meal. Mercados top-shelf made with gold agave tequila can make any meal great, but it doesnt have to-- the food can stand on its own. Of course, a smooth and velvety rita on the rocks doesnt hurt. - John Vega

salsa lover's Review

This was my favorite restaurant when I lived in Dallas several years ago. Since I have been back on occasion I believe the food has slipped in quality. But the SALSA!! is the best in the world. I wish I could get the recipe. I stopover in Dallas and make a salsa run for a couple gallons to bring back home to freeze.

Good times but take money - great temptation to spend in market during wait for food!
