Good Food - Bad Business
Ok, I've been a customer of Sol's for years...years! I went there Saturday night with 2 people (other than myself). We asked FROM THE BEGINNING to be on 2 separate checks...and they said nothing.
Well, later in the evening, a couple of friends stopped in to join us...we had already eaten and our plates taken away. Because these people (some of them strangers to me) sat at/near our table, they lumped us all on to one ticket and charged an 18% gratuity. When I asked for our bill, we got a huge ticket with everyone and their grandmother's food and drinks on it (one guy wasn't even sitting at our table)! I objected and made the very reasonable demand that I please see a ticket with just my charges on it...standard business practice. The waiter refused. So, I asked for the manager and again made the very reasonable demand that I please be given a bill with just my charges on it. Again, I was refused...in a condesending manner and told to "split" up the charges and figure it out on my own! Ha, so much for customer service! So, I ended up biting the bullet and paying the hundred and something tab and collecting cash from other people...again, some of these "other people" were complete strangers...nice, right?
So, I guess the customer isn't always right?

Great alternative atmosphere in Deep Ellum. The food is very tasty and prepared well. Usually more than you can eat. Stays open late, so you can get breakfast after your favorite bands play. Try their steak, it's always tender and juicy. The jukebox isn't too shabby either.
Sam's Review
Best Mexican food in DFW. Cypress Hill to Sonic Youth on the Juke box. Every one that plays @ blue cat eats there. Love it!
