A longtime favorite of the Dallas club scene, the Village Station possesses an ambience and charm uniquely its own. Drink, dance and be seen in any of its intimate spaces: the chic, sexy dance floor packed with a variety of clientele, from young kids to mature regulars; the shadowy upper level where you can look down upon the milling throng; or the casual outdoor patio where you can catch some air or gaze at the moon. After visiting any of the Village's six bars, stroll the club, take in the sculpted physiques of dancers on display while enjoying the latest dance tunes, or, on Sunday, retro music. For an over-the-top twist to the evening, don't miss the drag performances upstairs in the Rose Room. Whether you're there to dance, work the crowd or just people-watch, a stop at the Village Station guarantees a good time. -- Victoria Verde

What once was is no more.

I first went to this club when it was Village Station in 1998, when I was 18, and it was a blast. Over the years, I had a lot of great times there. Super outdoor area, trying to get through the packed crowd in the Rose Room to see the drag shows, all fun. I moved from the area for four years, and when I came back, it was S4 (short for Station 4), and it's nothing like it used to be. It became some urbanized hangout for all the trendy people who don't know about the more awesome, smaller bars on Cedar Springs. The Rose Room is much bigger, which is a plus, because there's still never an open seat, and the parking is even more horrendous than it used to be. Especially since the surrounding businesses won't let you park in their lots anymore, so you HAVE to pay to park in a lot. Better off going to Sue's, Alexandre's or JR's if you're craving a club vibe, or try one of the smaller bars for something more low key but still just as hip.
