There aren't many places on Lower Greenville where you can go in cut-off jeans and flip flops and feel like you fit right in, but at the Winedale, anything more would be considered overdressed. Plastic skeletons hang from the ceiling overhead in tribute to the Grateful Dead at this narrow hole-in-the-wall where beer and pool reign supreme. For more than 25 years, an eccentric crowd has lined the long bar at this spot that was once a meat locker before owner Lota Dunham bought the place and transformed it into a bar. Although the Winedale isn't as rough and tumble as it used to be, you can still find an occasional scuffle. There's also a small stage inside the door where some local talent performs on open-mic Wednesdays. And be sure to ask the management why the clock is always set 30 minutes ahead.

Misunderstood
By EvilOldFkr on 06/06/2008
Some sheeple just don't get the Winedale. It's Real! Not some wannabe bar, not some place where you go to try to be in the "in" crowd. Although some of the "in" crowd do hang out here but usually undercover. Just a little bar where you can go to get a buzz and talk about anything you want to vent about today. I did say ANYTHING! Nothing is off limits, come try the ART of conversation. Social intercourse as it is sometimes called, and at the Winedale it gets Hot and Sticky.

TUESDAY NIGHT SPIN NIGHT
By dblacklabx1 on 03/02/2007
The Winedale tavern, what can I say about her? Tuesday nights are awesome. DJ DOM spins classic rock vinyl and mixes it with all sorts of modern stuff. He knows how to choose and blend the tunes!!! All types of music. All types of people. Serious drink specials on Tuesday night. They have this little game they play to win your drink special!!! ~~~NEWS FLASH~~~ They now do KARAOKE on TUESDAY NIGHTS!!!! Wednesday nights are the musician/songwriter open mic night. Simply the best place to hear the best local brewed music. Hosted by Mark. Call at 8pm to get your name on the list to jam the stage.

Interesting little joint
By jmags55 on 12/19/2006
It has the look of a dive joint but the feel wasn't all there. There's not much more to it than the bar & stools. It has the usual cast of characters who are probably there everyday before opening. Bartenders were nice enough but severely lacking in the makings of a good drink & all I had was Ketel & Soda... or I should say soda with a splash of Ketel. Maybe it's just this way in CA, but if you're not a hot chick bartender (& they definitely were NOT) you'd better make a stiff drink & they didn't do that either. Save your CA insults, I just don't care. The place is the model dive bar but not 1 I'd go back to except that it's 1 of the only places open in all of Dallas.
