Then you should probably venture down to the basement of the SouthSide Lofts on Lamar (keep an eye out for the neon green ellipse sign) where you'll find a welcome change of pace. In the original Sears and Roebuck building built in 1903, Absinthe Lounge is a casual sprawl decked out in art nouveau decor and a great place to take in live, nightly entertainment. Puff on a cigar from the impressive humidor, grab a nice glass of your favorite merlot or order up a frothy brew while absorbing the soothing sounds of a live jazz band. On weekends, live DJs spin a spellbinding deep house, acid jazz and soul cocktail. Absinthe also offers regular karaoke nights and opens the stage for a wide array of open mic talent.
