A Fort Worth institution since 1958, Angelo's is the place both urban cowboys and urban professionals go for authentic Texas barbecue. An unpretentious, western-style lodge ambience mixes with the unmistakable scent of hickory smoke, quickly transporting hungry customers back 100 years. Mounted trophies, many of which were caught by owner Angelo George, boldly accent the wooden walls that surround the large dining area. All the basics are served hot; beef brisket, pork ribs, whole chicken and a plethora of traditional sides including potato salad, creamy coleslaw and baked beans. The chopped beef and brisket sandwiches are customer favorites; both served on a greased hamburger bun with mustard and dill pickle slices. This home-style eatery is still a popular choice for Fort Worth's ravenous non-vegans, so be ready to wait a spell before your order. -- Bradley Harding

Not my 1st choice

I only ate there once and the ribs were suggested as their best. Mine were dried out. Not horrible, but I've had much better in the DFW area
