In the old Avon cleaners space on Lovers Lane, there is a much more pleasing aroma to the steam rising from behind the counter. Owner Steve Thatcher has taken the long-time cleaning spot and set up Drip Coffee Company. The former Starbucks employee has been roasting his own coffee for several years now, having operated shops in Boston, Amarillo and Austin. The quaint, comfy atmosphere serves as the backdrop for low-key conversation as indie coffeehouse junkies choose from about a dozen or so different roasts. A barrista is also busy tending to the orders of customers seeking more of a jolt at the espresso bar. Situated smartly amidst dozens of gift, floral and clothing boutiques just east of the Tollway, Drip should land a lot of shoppers in need of either a respite or a caffeine boost (or both).

By Susan Bratton-you must try try this place
By SUSANLBRATTON on 07/02/2008
The owner Steve Thatcher worked for Starbucks in his earlier years (he learned what not to do) and then went on to own a successful coffee shop in Chicago and now one here in Dallas. He is one of the best things about his Coffee house, along with his delicious in- house roasted coffee, his 8 month old son Vaughn, and his darling wife Stephanie. They are always there to greet you and make you the best cup of coffee. You'll never go anywhere else.

Freshest Coffee in Dallas
By ToryLee28 on 06/11/2008
This is without a doubt the best coffee I've ever had...not only does the owner purchase his beans directly from the best growers in the world (my favorite is the Yirgacheffe bean), but he roasts the beans onsite--something that Starbucks cannot do (or any other place in Dallas) due to the expense of just one roaster (a whopping $50,000!)...you can smell the beans when he's roasting as far as 200 yards away, and it's intoxicating....if you are a person who truly enjoys GREAT coffee, visit Drip. You will become an official coffee snob....

Best Coffee
By starbucksjnkie on 12/28/2006
As an avid coffe drinker, I would frequent myself at Starbucks. That was before Drip Coffee. They win hands down for the best coffee in Dallas, with their freshly roasted coffee.
