Featuring thousands of specimens hailing from as far away as India and from as close by as Laredo, the Fort Worth Zoo is a nationally-ranked institution with plenty to offer naturalists. The atmosphere benefits from a widespread lack of cages. Most animals are separated from the viewer by rivers or gullies. Among the dozens of notable exhibits is the World of Primates, a menagerie of orangutans, chimpanzees, gibbons, mandrills, and gorillas. Such a diverse collection should be more than enough to satisfy any small child's unrelenting desire to monkey watch. Whether you're genuinely interested or just want to scare the kids a bit, the Fort Worth Zoo's Komodo dragon exhibit is a definite must-see. The lovable beasts roam a 3,400-square-foot enclosure divided between indoor and outdoor areas.

I love it

I love the Fort Worth Zoo, it takes about 2 hours to see the whole Zoo...they have added a bird cage where you can actually go in and feed the birds, sometimes they sit on your finger! They have also added alot of other really neat stuff.

Over-rated

We thought the exhibits were too small, and the zoo over-rated for the cost. Reality did not meet expectations.

I am an animal activist, I thought I could handle going there and it not bother me but I had to go sit in the car after seeing the conditons of both animals and the space they had. I saw several primates whom had hair loss, along with the elephants also. I rated the 2 stars for the atmosphere, except the rhino's space was awful, there was no grass or water for them to eat or sunbath, rhino's have to have this for their dry exterior, the mom and her baby just stood in the corner under a little shade tree that wasn't even in their pen. and the elephants, same thing no shade very small space with no grass.FYI-these animals roam some 99 miles daily in the wild. Come on Ft. Worth if your going to have these animals in captivity give them more of a natural setting, trees, grass, and small ponds! I know there is enough money to do this, after sitting in the parking lot and watching the droves of people pouring in! I read other ratings and if the people would consider the animals a bit more than just looking and leaving, they might not respect our selfish wants!
