The legendary Sonny Bryan's is a popular chain of barbecue restaurants, but this location is where it all started. Its basic drive-in setup retains the same down-home charm from decades ago. Either eat in your car or come inside and chow down (old school desks still provide makeshift tables). The food, of course, is authentic barbecue with all the fixin's. Generous cuts of ribs slathered in sauce, beef brisket sandwiches and delicious smoked ham and turkey are just some of the favorites. All the typical smokehouse sides are available as well, including barbecue beans, fried okra and a surprisingly good slaw. Grab a cold beer from the ice chest to wash everything down. Open for lunch only (or until they run out of grub).

Moondog612's recent surgery...
By KLIF DJ on 08/27/2008
Sonny Bryant's is the best BBQ Dallas has to offer...too bad Moondog612 visited after s/he had undergone radical tastebud surgery...note, I said Dallas...there are some West Texas BBQ joints that are better than SB's...the original Cooper's in Mason, TX, and RJ's BBQ at 14th and N. Bryant in San Angelo...fork tender and mesquite smoked brisket nirvana...

The Best
By VAGDallas on 06/16/2008
My guests rave over the original location. My first visit hooked me about 25 years ago. Close enough to Love Field so that Air Force 1 has stopped to send for this "best in the world" treat. The meat is the best and made better served while you can smell the smoke and pour on the sauce. "It's all in the sauce, baby." Just go!
