In the decades since this Park Cities spot first came to be, Bubba's has gained not a little bit of status among those to whom the prospect of clogged arteries isn't nearly as frightening as the thought of soy and tofu. The decor gives off the kind of exuberant Donna Reed-era feel that indicates the fare found here to be of the high-caloric, comfort food variety, although the restaurant's name is probably evidence enough. A literally by-the-numbers menu in which various combos of entrees and sides may be chosen by simply asking for the "number four" helps to facilitate hard decisions. Most everything is fried -- chicken fried steak, fried chicken and fried catfish come accompanied with one's choice of a number of similarly simple veggie selections, such as green beans and mashed potatoes. Even the rolls are worth mentioning. Most customers opt for the drive thru, which, come 5:30PM, is usually about as packed as a Soviet-era bread line. -- Barrett Brown
