One of Denver's old movie houses, which graduated to live-venue status (the Ogden and Paramount have also undergone similar renovations), the Bluebird Theater mixes the ambiance of a larger theater with the intimacy of a small club. Although the Bluebird is the smallest of the Mile High City's historic theaters-cum-rock clubs, it still manages to attract its share of national acts, and regularly features bills with styles as varied as punk, indie (a Bluebird specialty), funk and jazz, as well as the occasional hip-hop showcase. The renovations made to convert the old movie theater into a club didn't strip the 'Bird of any of its pre-war charms. Intricate molding still adorns the vaulted ceilings -- best viewed from the club's balcony -- and lush red velvet curtains still flank the stage. The house has been fixed up with a lighting grid and a house sound system that's powerful enough to enable the small-sized room to compete with Denver's larger rooms.

Everytime I'm there the female bartender is incredibly rude. It amazes me.

The set up of the pit area is really bad. There is no room for anyone to move. Plus the sound was not good. The show was still good even with all the other stuff going on.
