Though the Ogden's glory days as a movie house are buried far in its past, the renovations to the historic theater have made it one of Denver's most popular mid-sized rock clubs. A careful balance has been struck between preserving the theater's past (much of its character comes from the intricate moldings that line the roof and the majestic velvet curtains that flank the stage) and updating it into the era of rock music. While there are bars on its main level and cramped balcony, the real draw at the Ogden is always whatever band graces its stage. Terraced levels provide concertgoers with a clear view of the onstage action no matter how far back in the crowd they stand; and, depending on the size of the event, there may be tables scattered at the back end of the club for anyone who wants to take a load off their feet. On nights when a packed house is expected, the tables are packed away to make more room. Acoustically, the Ogden is one of the Mile High City's best spots, with high, vaulted ceilings that give its massive house PA the room to really kick out the noise.
