Rate and Write a Review Opened in 1908, Lakeside Amusement Park is one of Colorado's oldest amusement parks. While the lack of upkeep may make that fact obvious to visitors, Lakeside nonetheless sports a low-key (and affordable) alternative to Denver's other attractions. With 39 rides for adults, and another 15 for tots, the park should keep attraction-riders busy. Thrill seekers won't want to miss the Cyclone, a classic wooden roller coaster, while the steam trains from the 1904 Worlds Fair in St. Louis are a more relaxed favorite of park patrons. There's more than just rides at Lakeside, however, as the park opens its gates as a local summertime hangout. With everything from a pizzeria to a Mexican restaurant inside its gates, Lakeside is a relaxed trip back into the days when amusement parks were local mom-and-pop operations.
