Opened in 1908, Lakeside Amusement Park is one of Colorado's oldest amusement parks. While the lack of upkeep may make that fact obvious to visitors, Lakeside nonetheless sports a low-key (and affordable) alternative to Denver's other attractions. With 39 rides for adults, and another 15 for tots, the park should keep attraction-riders busy. Thrill seekers won't want to miss the Cyclone, a classic wooden roller coaster, while the steam trains from the 1904 Worlds Fair in St. Louis are a more relaxed favorite of park patrons. There's more than just rides at Lakeside, however, as the park opens its gates as a local summertime hangout. With everything from a pizzeria to a Mexican restaurant inside its gates, Lakeside is a relaxed trip back into the days when amusement parks were local mom-and-pop operations.

kids love it

I have neices and nephews whose parents take them to Disneyland and they still beg to go to Lakeside. The price is definitely right since I can't afford to take four of them to Elitches and I always get coupons. Plus you can bring your own food and drinks and save a bundle. I've been a little saddened of the recent lack of upkeep. I understand that economics are down, ************ still sad.

Great value.

I took my kids here and they had a lot of fun. It didn't cost nearly as much as Elitches and they didn't have to wait as long to get on rides either. They enjoyed the coaster a lot and the gokarts. There is a really nice "back-in-time" atmosphere at this park too. Miles of neon is fascinating and creates a mood very unusual to an amusement park. It definitely needs a cleanup and some major restoration. It seems there could be something done with the docks...maybe remote controlled boats or something. Still it was a lot of fun and well worth every penny.
