Despite its squalid appearance, the 15th Street Tavern is perhaps one of the best places in Denver to see local bands like Black Lamb or Dressy Bessy, and touring punk and indie acts. On weekend nights, the fact that there is zero ventilation to dissipate the clouds of cigarette smoke and the obscenely over-crowded bar only adds to the charm of this dive bar in the heart of the city. Once inside, you have to wonder how a five-piece band is ever going to fit on the microscopic stage. The drinks are relatively inexpensive, it's dimly lit, often crowded, lots of beer gets spilled and eardrums get violated. The 15th Street Tavern offers a truly genuine experience in an atmosphere that complements both its patrons and its musical acts to a cheap, beer-swilling tee. -- Josh Tyson

I'm not much of a punk fan

But still, this place is awesome. Live music, cheap drinks, awesome staff, and despite the scroungy appearance, everyone in the place always seems like good people. Nice place, highly recommended.
