At this comfortable East Colfax wine bar-cum-restaurant (in the former space for Tante Louise), an eclectic mix of old-timers, neighborhood dwellers and urban hipsters converge for the solid happy hours, small plates menu, wine roster and gorgeous patio, with a statuesque waterfall. Bare-wooded tables, terracotta-hued walls and sheer white curtains illuminated by sunlight fill the old house. The space is divided into separate dining rooms and is large enough to hold a small army, but most patrons settle into the front room with its antique sofa, working fireplace, and loungey bar zone. The globetrotting menu focuses on shareable small plates like Kobe beef burger sliders, a sausage plate complete with wild boar, German veal beer brats, and smoked elk, or opt for the ahi tuna carpaccio or steamed mussels. Cheese flights are big here, and you can choose from more than 20 world-spanning selections.

Fantastic happy hour with all wine by the glass half price and great appetizers. Really nice ambience and great service too. Bartenders and servers are very well versed of both food and wine. A very underappreciated gem.

VERY Disappointing

A group of 4 of us went to the Cork House as part of Denver Restaurant Week. One would think the restaurants would be trying even harder to make a good impression, but no. It took almost 3 hours for dinner, and at least 2 other parties came and went during the time we were there. Furthermore, the swordfish was so poorly cooked that it was literally inedible, and the other meals were average at best. Overall, nothing good to say about our experience.
