The "legendary" label may be a stretch, but that doesn't stop diehard BBQ fiends from flocking to this perpetually packed and boisterous chain. Lauded for its hickory-smoked St. Louis-style spareribs, it has garnered more than 150 culinary awards. The campy, wood-floored space, designed to resemble a rustic lodge, leaves no walls untouched, all of them mounted with hunting and fishing gear, including a few strategically placed deer head trophies. Portions require loose-fitting clothes, a bundle of napkins, and feigned ignorance when it comes to counting calories. Give it up and get the crisp-skinned half chicken, or the fork-tender pulled pork, and slather them with one of the joint's six sassy barbecue sauces. Sides include terrific corn bread muffins, smoky beans and sweet drunkin' apples.

Best Barbeque by far!
By Wiss67 on 06/27/2008
We love the menu. And who says you can't eat at Famous Dave's and count calories. I love the lemon pepper chicken, coleslaw, and the garlic mashed potatoes. I usually end up taking half of it home. My husband loves the wings and brisket and is a big fan of the trash can lid! Their coleslaw is to die for!

Barbeque Heaven
By Packey2Bev on 06/27/2008
We go to the one on I-25 and Hwy. 7 north of Denver. The very best barbecue I have ever tasted. Just the two of us have gone several times and we have also taken friends and family. We all love the ribs. They have excellent an excellent appetizer - Smoked salmon on flat bread. The coleslaw, corn-on-the-cob, cornbread, baked beans and sweet tea are great. Heck, its just all good. The service is great and sometime you have to wait for a table but its worth it. Try it - you'll love it.

The best barbeque I have tasted in a long time. We have gone several times and each time we comment on how great the food is. We have also taken friends and family there and they have had wonderful comments also and have gone back. I love the ribs, chicken, coleslaw, corn-on-the-cob as well as the cornbread and baked beans. It was all yummy. Thank you for putting one at I-24 and hwy. 7. It is an easy drive for us.

Divine ribs!

I was pretty stricken when Bennett's closed here in Colorado Springs, but was completely swayed when we tried Famous Dave's here in the Springs. I am missing NOTHING by Bennett's being closed and it is certainly NOT worth the drive to Denver for BBQ at Bennett's when we have Dave's! The food is excellent and we have had excellent service here in the Springs. They have had the same wait staff for quite some time (retention is a sign of a decent place to work) and have become familiar to them as well. It is busy because is is awesome, but we have never had to wait more than 10 minutes during the dinner hour. Cheaper and faster to go at lunch. Have also ordered take out without any problem. Food portions are generous. We always take some home. They make a great Arnold Palmer using sweet tea (you have to ask for it). Just wish they had take-home cups for drinks. We still have to drive about 15 or so miles to our Dave's, but well worth it! Tried many things on the menu, all good. I would make an effort to find the one in Denver to visit when we visit family there (and take them there too). Yummy!
