You can tell by the sound system at Herman's that they take music very seriously. A huge venue with a nice dance floor, it's got plenty of seating and everything you need behind the bar to quench your thirst. Herman's is the place to be to kick back with friends and watch up-and-coming bands in a non-neon type of atmosphere. You're not going to find 18+ nights or a bunch of 21-year-olds out for their birthdays; instead Herman's is a place for folks who truly love music and everything that comes with it. The Tuesday and Wednesday night series is sort of a public service, offering aspiring artists time on the stage to test their skills. Herman passed away a few years ago at the age of 91. Herman's son (and fellow music fanatic) Allan now runs the place and has been credited for breaking faves like Big Head Todd and the Subdudes. -- Ann Bender
