The stately Palace Arms has been greeting the well-heeled and wealthy for more than 100 years, counting among its celebrity guests Ringo Starr, Dolly Parton and Jimmy Carter. Located in downtown Denver's historic Brown Palace Hotel, the Arms is rooted in an era of old-world opulence, when dining out required evening gowns and jackets. Today, both gowns and coats are optional, but not out of line. Red leather booths, dim lighting, pristine china, crisp linens, opulent chandeliers and walls lined in French antiques outfit the richly appointed dining room. The menu, too, is elegant, including the tableside Caesar salad, seared veal sweetbreads, poached Florida grouper with coconut and almond custard, and wok-steamed black mussels with Kalamata olives and toasted pine nuts. The elaborate, award winning wine list boasts over 900 options and nearly 20 wines by the glass, including the royally priced 1999 Opus One Meritage, which will set you back a queenly $73.

Still the best
By Christianmilner on 06/27/2008
For a special night, it's still the best. Food-fab, Service-unequeled, atmosphere-glorious. Splurge-absolutely. It's a part of being a Denverite!

Health1research's Review

This restaurant is not for the casual diner. If you are looking for a romantic, fun, or relaxing atmosphere don't go here. This restaurant seems to cater more towards the business folks than the night-on-the-towners. Food was mediocre (which was surprising)and given in very fancy but extremely small portions. Read up on your table manners too, you wouldn't want to be caught dropping your napkin on the floor here. I ordered the duck and found it fatty and very tough. The salads were sparse and wilted. If you want to impress someone with how "rich and classy" you are, bring them here. If you are looking for a nice, relaxing evening out I would go elsewhere. I will say that the service you receive here is unparalelled. Your wish is their comand that is granted in an efficient and gracious manner. You really have to be in the right mood for this restaurant.

Wonderful, gourmet food with classy, formal atmosphere. Nice to know that there is still a restaurant that has a dress-code (jacket and tie required).
