The days of pompadours, cars with fins and early rock 'n' roll may be in the past, but the Skylark Lounge isn't going to let them fade into obscurity. Rock is alive and kicking within these walls, where bar bands perform for lively crowds, and regulars show as much interest in the modern circuit as they do in Gene Vincent and Elvis Presley. But you don't have to be a music fanatic to enjoy the Skylark; anyone looking to escape the hipsters of LoDo can take refuge here. The atmosphere is pure fun, instead of the seen-and-be-seen scene found downtown. The Skylark was previously located in a small space a few blocks north, but it relocated in November 2003 to these roomier quarters. It looks and feels the same -- same rock posters, same checkerboard floor, same great jukebox, same likable bartenders -- but now better accommodates the crowds.
