With a central Denver location in a vibrant neighborhood and a menu sporting a variety of options, it is no wonder Wash Park Grille has been a longtime meeting and gathering place. Enjoy Italian penne pasta with sauteed chicken breast, Italian sausage, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and onions in a spicy tomato Parmesan cream sauce. Or try crusted ahi tuna seared rare, topped with a soy glaze; it's served with green chile-ginger rice, stir-fry vegetables and wasabi mayo. From sandwiches and pasta to seafood and chops, the venue can please most everyone in a crowd. The dark wood-and-brick interior is inviting with its central, horseshoe-shaped bar; you can dish with friends or else enjoy a complimentary game of pool. The patio borders South Gaylord Street, set up for year-round people-watching. Happy hours are convivial (the bar stays open till 2AM), and Sunday brunch is a favorite. Beware the parking-restriction signs in the neighborhood if you don't score a spot on Gaylord. Most folks avoid the hassle by opting for the restaurant's valet parking, available on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

This place used to be horrible. The service that is. I had a guy take my plate mid-eating and bring me the check before I could order a coffee or dessert. No....I'm not overweight lol. Recently I returned two years from the bad experience and it was great. The food was up to par as well as the service. The only suggestion I would have is to do something about the cold draft from the door to the patio. People seated near that door inside freeze.

~Lunch & Shop~
By rosebud1123 on 01/04/2002
Yes, old Gaylord street is one of my favorite places to get a bite for lunch and then shop. There is a small bar area where you'll perhaps find locals playing pool. Munch on some of their homemade bread/with oil to dip it in while waiting for your meal. Very reasonably priced wines. They have great crabcakes (one of my favorites) or onion soup to start off with. I love one of their many salads for lunchtime fare. Dinner, maybe grilled tuna or one of their filling burgers. Never made it to the desserts, but they always look wonderful. Try their Sunday brunch too.
