Rate and Write a Review It's kind of dreamy in here. That, and this new bar in Detroit (it opened early April 2006) is emblematic of what has been going on right in downtown Detroit. The owners of two popular bars/restaurants, Traffic Jam & Snug and The Bronx, put something clever and dynamic in what was previously empty space. The finished product is a refurbished beauty of a bar, painstakingly returned to its 1930s Art Deco glory. Amber lighting from authentic fixtures connected to an amazing-looking ceiling (the craftwork is stunning) dominate almost as much as the U-shaped bar that snakes around the middle of the room. Nearly everything in here has been retained from the bar's past, which should not only make preservationists salivate but provide a glimpse to newcomers of the city's rich architectural past. At more than 4,000 square feet, there is plenty of room to roam, including an upper level. A stage occupies the rear, east wall, with booth seating to the north. It is a restoration that is worth checking out. And while you're there, have a drink and maybe chat it up with the folks next to you. Yes, it's that kind of place.
