Luna Lounge   

Following a handful of incarnations at its north-of-downtown, Royal Oak address, Luna seems to be a winner in this endurance race, because it doesn't seem to change all that much. Formerly known as the Groove Room, Luna has maintained its hard-earned reputation as a keen party spot rich in DJ action, where you're bound to find anything from a Cure video appreciation night to loud trance music. Assorted booths and tables dot the area around the bar. Big on dance and sound, Luna is never, ever quiet and subdued. And while it is not too overbearing, you can get away from the bump-bump-bump by loafing in the lounge area on lovely couches. The crowd can skew into its mid-30s, but most patrons come for specific club nights or are basically looking to dance. Luna doesn't sweat any of the little stuff, focusing mainly on keeping you intoxicated, on the dance floor, or, in most cases, both.
