It used to be the Atomic Dog, and way back in the '70s it was the Sound Machine. Fast forward to present day, and the March 2006 opening of the nightclub Virgo inside Pampa's Entertainment Center in Warren has brought one of the only upscale lounges to Michigan's third-largest city. Mainly a shot-and-a-beer kind of town, Virgo expands that perception with a warm, comfortable and modern lounge setup in the city's popular bowling complex. It has an open lounge area with couches and some tables, but there is more standing room than anything. Theme nights happen Wednesday (ladies night) through Saturday (dancing DJs) and every night in between (swing/salsa on Thursdays, live bands and DJ on Fridays). Overall, it has a nice feel with a friendly, knowledgeable staff. They are, however, strict on the dress code here -- no caps, work clothes, bling, etc. Expect a mix of a crowd, topping out age-wise in the mid-30s.
