Having been open on 12 Mile for a few years now, the Living Room is slowly coming out of the Berkley shadows. In conjunction with Amici's Pizza (which is a joyous delicacy in its own right), the Living Room is more than just a holding pattern for people waiting on a table or to take their pie home. It's a cool, lounge-y little place with burgundy ceilings and art deco lighting. Recessed lights and yellow walls make it funky, but comfortable. The bar seats about 14 and three high tables are directly behind that. A big booth at the front and two tables in the center afford a nice window view of the street and of passersby. A large selection of on-tap beer includes Guinness, Bass, Bell's Oberon and George's Pale Ass Ale. By the bottle, enjoy the rare Samuel Smith products, Old Speckled Hen and Old Peculiar. In addition to the suds, martinis abound. Weekends get a little busy in this nonsmoking lounge. The walls are adorned with art generated by nearby Berkley High School graphic art students and are for sale with proceeds going to the Berkley Library. This is a community hangout in every sense.
