Very much a small-town bistro/cafe feel despite being in Michigan's third-largest city, this specialty shop is open four days a week for breakfast and lunch only. And while that may seem limited, the detail and effort they put into breakfast and lunch is clearly obvious. Breakfast is a huge hit, with dishes like chocolate and raspberry-stuffed French toast, chocolate chip pancakes, eggs Benedict and the Mexican omelet. Lunch is a variety of custom sandwiches and soups (the Hungarian mushroom soup is very popular), all visible on the chalk board for selection. But, as the name implies, it is the sweet chocolate offerings that help set this place apart (as if the charming dining room with 11 tables, friendly family-owned vibe and unique-to-the-area fare weren't enough). Pastries, chocolate raspberry cheesecake and truffles all abound, but the shop's signature dish, the Buckingham torte, stands alone. English toffee, chocolate mousse and fresh whipped cream, all delightfully sitting in a brownie crust, is the decadence defined.
