After emerging from a major renovation, El Rancho's come out even better. Bigger rooms with brighter colors greet diners. From an internal standpoint, the renovation has yielded a considerably larger dining room and bar. Additionally, the kitchen is now three times the size, as are the bathrooms. It now seats roughly 150 people, an increase of about 50. A bigger kitchen continues to crank out some of the best and authentic Mexican food around. From traditional dinners like tamales, topes and pollo en mole to mouth-watering steaks, this west side restaurant doesn't skimp on flavor. Hearty portions of tacos, burritos and flautas (as well as eight other Mexican dinner options) are served generously. And, of course, a bigger bar means more room to churn out the serious margarita. El Rancho now has more than two decades in Detroit under its belt. That doesn't happen by accident.

The food is terrific. The staff is terrific. I have been here many times with my sister and her teacher friends. I know they go every week! I have enjoyed everything from the breakfast menu to the dinner menu - and don't forget the homemade Sangria - delicious! Everything is absolutely outstanding!

Try the breakfast sometime!
By flagirl538 on 03/18/2007
I love this place because it is close to where I work. Vernor Hwy. has some of the best Mexican places to eat for those willing to go beyond Xoci' and the Village. The food quality is very good and I don't know what it is, but they have the best beans. Service is top notch and customer focused. Go bold and have breakfast their sometime. Try the napolita omelet. For the price $3.95 you get a nice omelet, toast, meat, coffee, and yes, chips and salsa. El Rancho is "nachos all the way!"
