Rate and Write a Review As home base for many of Detroit's local bands, the Lager House has a deserved aura of hipness. While you'd assuredly find sister joints in other cities, these would only maintain their coolness for a limited time before gentrification and landmark status set in. But here in Corktown, the Lager House -- symbolic in its location on the edge of the old Tiger Stadium in the city's oldest neighborhood -- avoids most of that. It's a stripped-down, high-octane live music joint at its finest. Many of the indie darlings of Detroit have claimed the stage repeatedly as their own, namely such heavies as The Sights, The Dirtbombs, The Come Ons, Ko & The Knockouts and so many more. It is seemingly in the middle of nowhere (at least by the times bands come on) on Michigan Avenue, and has its very own well-wornness and no-frills greatness. Along with select others, the Lager House is the definitive spot for the best fuzz-rock and indie-power riffs. Pabst for a $1 and a band playing on any given night? You never know, a good time might attack you.
