Without a doubt, this is one of the swankiest Chinese restaurants in the metro Detroit area. Beautifully appointed decor and exquisite cuisine explain the long waits and hard-to-get weekend reservations. The odds are high that you'll see local celebs dining here, but please don't disturb them while they're eating. If you're new to the concept, order the sake sampler. You may get a little tipsy, but at least it'll be clear which are your favorites for next time. House specialties (referred to as ''Nu Asian fusion'' dishes) include pine nut chicken, sizzling peppered tuna and ''Seafood in Taro's Nest.'' The latter features shrimp scallops, lobster and just about every Chinese veggie you can think of, and many you can't. Odd little additions at the end of the menu include a hamburger and club sandwich. Almost seems like a crime when the Chinese fare here is hard to beat.
