This is the one, of course, that spawned it all. You might hang out at the multifarious offshoot locations in Novi, Ferndale, Mount Clemens and elsewhere, but you really have no Post cred until you've kicked it in the original location. Seemingly just a slap shot away from the home of the Red Wings, the Post has been long associated with the city's beloved hockey team. In fact, when the Wings won the first of back-to-back titles in 1997, local television crews showed players hauling the Stanley Cup right through the narrow doorway and into this legendary bar. This Post is big for a city bar, with every square inch of wall covered in something marker-based. It also started what would become an all-Post craze of dancing on the tabletop shelves along the walls. With cold brew on tap and little else, if you even utter ''Appletini'' in here, you'll get laughed clear across the river into Canada. The Post Downtown is one of the grungiest-looking bars around... and a home for true Detroit hockey heads.

Den of Sin, Love It!!!!!
By elizabethwishart on 08/25/2005
Boy oh boy did I ever let go of all my inhibitions after a few drinks from Frank the bartender. His tongue& hands (and somethin' else) sure love to explore. I haven't felt that good since i bought my first toy! The J.T. Special shots were flowing, the crowd was great, the music was pumping, and I was there!!!! Thank you God! I look forward to seeing some more Red Wings at The Post this season, but Frankie, I've got my eye on you Big Boy!
