Slide into a booth at the Telway and slip back in time. The Madison Heights hamburger spot is a Detroit-area classic, serving up tasty burgers, good, cheap coffee and easy conversation since 1959. It's been called Detroit's ''dirty little 3 a.m. secret,'' and there may be no better place to purify one's system after a night of hard living. The old-style building conjures up memories of The Giant and Top Hat, two highly popular '50s-era Detroit burger chains. Owner Allen Owens prides himself on having the best prices around, and in an era of $4 coffee confections, plunking down a few coins for a hot cup of joe sure has its appeal.
